In the context of its activity to raise awareness of the folklore importance and its impact on enhancing creativity, the Protecting Socotra Folklore Literature Project organized a workshop in which the novelist Wajdi Al-Ahdal, Muhammad Al-Mahfali, who is an expert in literary studies, participated in it, in addition to a number of interested in literature and creativity in general.
The workshop began with a snapshot of the project and its process starting from training researchers, collecting folk tales, to the stage of translating, and publication.
In the paper presented by the novelist Wajdi Al-Ahdal, he talked about how to benefit from folk literature in creating different types of literature and arts, stressing the importance of the creator benefiting from other arts and sciences, especially literature and folklore in its various manifestations, noting the importance of this aspect in presenting diverse, purposeful and influential literature. Al-Mahfali as well discussed the sources that can enhance creativity, how they can do so, and what strategies should be adhered to reach these goals.
The workshop concluded with extensive discussions on how to benefit from folklore tales, legends, and myths in creating new and different texts.
